She has been my girlfriend for the past 5 months. We are both 23. Everything has been good, with few minor fights, which I've defused. Sex is great, we regularly fuck 1-2 times / day when we see each other. For the first few months of our relationship, we were basically together all the time, even though we don't live together, free time permitted this. I didn't see why not and she seemed madly in love with me.
She lives ~1.5 hour drive away.
Our time spent together has decreased over the past month, to roughly seeing each other every weekend.
Usually she will snap me cute selfies with hearts and all that shit, few times a day. I respond appropriately, being affectionate in response. She will try to small talk over text too, which I play along with. Now, this mysteriously dies out(last week, week 48), she seems to talk to me like one of her beta orbiters, hearts are now very limited.
Clearly an "issue" has arised and I try to make her speak up. She tells me she wouldn't want to say anything before the weekend, where she's coming to my place.
When she gets to my place, she gives me probably the longest hug I've ever gotten. We have sex twice soon after. She's unusually quiet (not talkative). She's leaving Monday afternoon and she finally brings up her "issue".
- She is unsure of my commitment.
She has been wondering what I'm like when I go out with my friends. I don't drink much, I've been out twice. She's wondering if I would talk to that hot girl at the bar etc.
She also says she's noticed me checking out other girls when we're in public.
- She says she is afraid of becoming bored of our relationship
She says she isn't used to being together this much (assuming she refers to when we were together every day). I'm her first LTR that isn't also a LDR.
We've had a few fights lately, she admits they were stupid and unreasonable. These happened because she becomes irritated at me, she assumes because we've spend so much time together.
She also tells me she isn't yet "bored" (fallen out of love?) but is afraid she will be. Later on, it turns out she has started to become "bored" and she is afraid it'll get worse to the point we have to break up.
She says she needs space. She also thinks this is unfair to me. She wants me to consider breaking up with her, if I can't deal with her "space" issue (whatever that means).
She says she has thought about taking a relationship break. I deny doing so, telling her, either we're together or not. She tells me she doesn't know what to do to "bring back the spark", obviously wanting me to fix it.
I've now come to realize she probably is "taking a break", at least from texting me / snapping me. She doesn't seem interested in talking at all and today we haven't spoken once.
- Our sex life has become routine
She says our sex life has become like a routine. She says it's always in the bed, when we wake up, or before we go to sleep.
I have a fairly good explanation for why it might seem boring to her. She is not very sexual adventurous, pretty much only into vanilla sex. During the start of our relationship, I would pretty much attempt to initiate sex at all times. This was to probe her for how adventurous she was. She kept turning me down. I realized the only time I had a fair chance of actually fucking her, would be if she was already half naked in bed, which happens when we wake up, or go to sleep. So I've pretty much stopped attempting sex with her if we aren't in bed. She never initiates sex (she has done so twice).
A friend of mine have told me to break up with her, by virtue of her childish arguments and her being hypocritical about sex (she never initiates). The fights / arguments we've had is started by her, usually trying to provoke me. I've given in to her provocations several times lately. She is obviously shit testing me and I failed.
I don't believe a breakup is the best course of action. It seems as if I've broken frame and she's lashing out at me because I've become beta. I feel like I should learn how to fix this, instead of running away. But I don't know how exactly.
Before all of this, our next time seeing each other was planned as December 5th. This is still the plan. I'm expecting things to be normal by then, otherwise a breakup seems unavoidable. For the foreseeable future, we don't have time to see each other more than every other weekend.
I realize I've made the mistake of talking too much when we aren't together. I fucked up by not making sure we had more time apart.
I don't know if not initiating any conversation with her during our time apart is an appropriate response either; She's insecure and has previously taking me not initiating contact (or intimacy for that matter) as a sign of me not wanting it(so she feels rejected).
