Not exactly a new topic here. It can quickly become a selfulfilling prophecy. You feel bad about it and people see that. I went through the same thing but you have to just own it.

My wife left me for a guy who was bald by his early twenties. A very confident fellow. Often wore a hat, so it wasn't like he wasn't self-conscious, but he seems like he's doing quite well in life and never had problems with women.

Anyone worried about balding, do this: use topical Minoxidil (not exactly cheap tho) on back of head and even front near widow's peaks (ignore the directions, it works). Go get your doc to prescribe you Finasteride for hair loss, just don't get it in the Propecia (1mg) form which you'll pay an arm and a leg for and isn't often covered by insurance (since it's "cosmetic"), have your doc write the prescription for Proscar (same stuff, 5mg form) which is often covered by insurance since it's used to treat heart/blood stuff (the original use of Finasteride). I pay like $1 a month for the Proscar. I started balding when I was 16 (my cousins are completely bald), and I haven't lost any hair since since, still a pretty much full head of hair, now in my mid thirties.

Started balding when I was in high school, using minox to mantain this what I got left. I really feel u about this one. Some chics dig bald men. some dont. what you can do is to really change your image. Get ripped. good beard. maybe even tats. Whatever people say having full head of hair will always be better than being bald. "be confident", "doesnt matter" "embrace it" is just pure hamstering. Chics generally prefer guys with hair. that really applies to girls who are early 20s.

31 year old here who has been slowly thinning since I was 21, to now where I’m almost bald in the back. It’s a huge blow to confidence and I personally fucking hate my genes for it. As far as SMV, you’ve got to just up your game in every other department. I’m often told I dress nicer than most men my age, that alone has boosted my SMV and confidence in ways I wish I had known when I was 20. Also, there’s no such thing as ever being overdressed. If you are 20 and you dress pretty sharp, getting the best shape you can don’t let your confidence waiver, you should be fine. I haven’t taken the plunge to shaving my head just yet because I’m at a point my life where I can probably afford to get hair follicle transplant, but I would recommend not shaving to the scalp like Mr. clean in doing something more like Jason Statham. Women don’t seem to dig the total bald heads for some reason.

My strategy for you would be this, nizoral 2% shampoo, minoxinil apply on scalp at night 2 hours before bed at 2mls, and go on a dht blocker for 3 to 3 months to bring back the initial hair loss. Cycle on and off the dht blocker as needed. Also check hormones and thyroid. Ask me any questions you want... I started going bald at 14 and I’m 31 now with good lot of hair still :)

Are you sure it’s actual MBP or can it be something else causing it like Alopecia Areata(stress related hair loss)? I had/have Alopecia and developed it from severe stress which caused a dime sized bald spot on my head. The spot disappeared and I currently have a full head of hair. I worked out and dieted and overall reduced my stress and now I’m physically fine.

Secondly, like others have said grow a beard to offset being hairless on your head.

Thought I'd give you my input. I recently turned 20 as well, I've been balding since 15/16, kind of hard to tell. By now, I have NW3 receded temples and a NW5 diffuse thinning pattern all over my head, my crown is slightly worse than that as well.

Currently I'm keeping a regular hairstyle over the winter, but I'll probably be shaving again over the next few months.

So here's some insights I have found: The only way to win the balding game is not to play it, but change the rules into the bald game. I personally don't use minox, fin etc. because I'm not really looking forward to spending my entire lifetime constantly worrying about my hair loss. I'd rather become the guy who looks good even without his hair. How about you?

Now I don't know how bad your hair was, but it was probably about time you shaved it off - be glad you've done it.

You probably don't look like a freak either. There are very few guys who really do look worse bald than with a balding head, that's because they have very few defining facial features. Grow a beard (even if it's some scruff), get a bit of a tan, or just buzz your head instead of shaving it slick bald.

I went through all the stages of grieving when I figured out I was losing my hair at around 19. I tried taking propecia on top of doing topical treatments, I tried wearing hats all the time, I even talked to a hair transplant surgeon but I really didn't regain my confidence until I shaved it and got used to it. I looked like a neo-nazi when I shaved my head and have a mole on the back of my head but once I and everyone else around me got used to it they said that I looked much more masculine and confident. I also work out quite a bit as well which helps but the main point being just own it, because if you're trying to hide it the only one your hiding it from is yourself trust me everyone else can see the insecurity pouring out of you.

I'm trying dermarolling, scalp massage and alkalinising the body through diet. Various natural topicals and supplements too, there are a lot suggested online. I've not been at it long enough to see major results (~5 weeks) so I can't vouch for it yet but the science behind the mechanisms seems reasonable.

Some of the nofap guys are claiming that they are seeing reduction or reversal of balding with nofap. The theory is that fapping or too much ejaculation converts testosterone to dht which wreaks havoc on hair follicles. These pills from big pharma block the production of dht - same outcome.

I am balding at my temples and am in my late 40s, so not as bad off as you. With nofap I have seen hair regrowth on my temples - there are literally new hairs growing where for the last 5 years there were none.

You should have done something before you lost all your hair in the top.

There are only three things that you can do:

Minoxidil: mild effects, won't solve your problems but helps grow a bit of hair and helps retain the ones you have. The patent expired a few years ago so you can find generics cheap.
Finasteride: Blocks a testosterone derivative that produces hair lost. It has more effect than minoxidil, plus its just a pill so its simpler to administer. The problem is it can mess with your testosterone levels, and a very small percentage has erection problems because of it. Go see a doctor if interested.
Hair transplant: Expensive but works. If you have lost so much hair, you'll need several operations spaced over years to cover the whole thing. You don't want to cheapo in this type of operation, so it will cost.

Those are the only three things that have a real effect to get back your hair. The only other option you have is cut it and own your bald head.
