I'm from a different culture whose emphasis on respect is something I share. This (maybe I'm reacting in a extreme manner) makes it uncomfortable for me to tell people I know to do things as opposed to asking them (Come over here a sec vs. Can you come here for a sec) even when we're buds and it's something as simple as c'mere I found an awesome video.

Sometimes when someone comes to me for help or I assume lead on a task I find it easy to make statements. Otherwise, it seems rude and while others can do it, I slowly begin to bristle because I don't enjoy the lack of respect.
Am i holding any beliefs that need modification?
Why does it feel so viscerally uncomfortable for ME when others seem to have no issues with it?
