Since you say you're parting on good terms I would say play nice in public but be savage in your dealings. She might be playing nice to your face but you can't underestimate a female's scorn when they're being dumped at her age.

Good thing you have older children, will make it easier.

Regarding alimony, I don't know your situation but I would get a red pilled divorce lawyer, one that understands the system, the way to know is if he advises being tactically savage.

Ultimately its up to you, I would say don't be too generous and work out a fair but not rape alimony. Never show your emotions in front of her and be prepared for a 180 switch in behaviour from her.

I've gone through a divorce in Florida also.

If you are on good terms, stay that way. No use stirring sh*t up. Do not lawyer up just to fight every thing. it's a bit rediculous to pay a lawyer 200.00 per hour to fight over steak knives. give her anything she wants, within reason and move on. Use any down time you have to plan on your future, and to envision what it will look like.

If you can get this done quickly, it will be less stress. it is total misery to string out a divorce.

as far as frame, you divorce her in your mind, be a good father to your kids and look ahead ... that's where your future is.

I’m in FL and also had an uncontested divorce. No kids involved.

Mine was relatively amicable and I didn’t get a lawyer.

We did all the paper work together with only a few minor disagreements which we compromised on and I was done in 6 weeks.

I think you are right in that getting it over with as fast as possible with IDGAF attitude is the best way to go. You want to rip the bandaid.

It’s good that she is moving out and not you.

All I have to go on is my experience but being that alimony could be a factor for you, I’d at least consult with a lawyer on that aspect.

You should definitely get a lawyer because there are a lot of money at the table. But be very nice to her. Speak softly but carry a big stick.

Always have a good lawyer on speed dial, because I bet you a million bucks all her Gfs have already recommended 4 different ones to her....do what OP said....don’t make the same mistake again.
