Unless you charged( or intended to charge) her for the service, don't pay. You were trying to help her. She took the risk by not paying a professional.

Buy yourself a new one and give her your old one. You had good intentions trying to fix it but you are responsible for breaking it. That said, she had an old phone and shouldn't get a brand new one from you.
