TL:DR

Horrible slackers get moved to my team. Workload increases, so I call them out on it and go to leadership. Leadership talks it out with them. They spew tons of lies, and now I'm called into office. Through a trusted source in the higher echelons, I learn that they've lied about me. Now boss is willing to believe liars instead of someone who's been consistent.

So we have these two (female) slackers at our work. Everyone knows that they slack, even leadership, they been called out on it before by the boss, but apparently it did not work.

Recently they've been moved to my group, and the workload increased for me, which is why I called them out on the bullshit. I ain't gonna do the work for them. So I went to the leadership, explained the situation, and apparently they've "talked it out". Now here's where the problem comes into play. They've spewed a ton of crap on me - which isn't true btw, but boss believes them because I'm apparently called into a meeting on Monday.

I got the info from a trusted source who's close to the boss in hierarchy, and she told me discretely that I shouldn't snap at people - which I did not btw, I argued (but it was calm), and that they've been really doing their job and that I was trying to set them up for failure.

What seems strange to me, is that leadership is willing to believe people who've consistently been slacking and lying (leadership knows this), instead of me, who basically never told a lie at work at all and been consistently delivering good value?

The only thing I think this is about is that I've called out my boss on poor decision-making before. I did this because A) She can't get rid of me because I provide too much value B) It was to make my life easier. Could this situation be used as a hook to get back at me?

How I'm proceeding - and here's where I would value input of anyone who's been in similar situation before.

  1. I've started looking for a new job, already got 3 interviews lined up. Even if I lose job, I won't be without one for at worst 1 month. (I have fk you money for 9 months).

  2. I'm gonna calmly explain the situation, but I'm prediction "it's your word vs theirs" and talk about "how feelings are important" (yes boss is a left leaning nutjob - but they pay is way too good so I stayed).

  3. If I'm not believed, I'm thinking about threatening a resignation. Would have been very stupid, if I didn't know about the fact that she can't find an easy replacement, and she can't afford to lose me on day. I have good references and a decent excuse if this gets brought up in new job. At the end of the day I'm not gonna do more work unless they increase my pay.
