Can declining respect be harmless?

Lack of respect should not be tolerated, especially if it's your SO that's being disrespectful. The desire to show respect and protect the relationship should increase over time (or at the very least stay the same).

Don't confuse comfortability with respect.

As you get to know someone better of course you're gonna be more open with them and give them a little bit more shit. But underneath all of this is a level of respect.

This is why disdain is considered the killer of relationships. You can fight with someone and still respect them. But once you lose that respect and step into the realm of disdain for them, I don't think there's any coming back.

Dread is what will keep your respect intact, so long as you're pulling the rest of your weight as a high-SMV RP man.

If she knows you can't do better, she has no reason to keep you happy to keep getting her benefits from the relationship. If she knows (without you telling her) that you could go out today and have another girl in bed by curtain call, she's going to do a lot more to make sure she keeps you happy.

This is assuming that she's a higher-value woman to begin with. If she's just plain disrespectful, it's time to cut the cord before anything gets more serious than it is.
