I'm relatively new to TRP but I've been reading quite a lot and I'm finding myself agreeing with most of what I read (I guess you can say I'm swallowing the pill). Here's a topic that I hope some of you TRP-ers can help me with:

I'm 5'6 and of Indian descent so both of these things probably work against me here in the US in terms of picking up women (I neither speak or act like an Indian in any way, mind you, I just happen to look like one). I try my best to live a fulfilling life- I read books, watch movies, listen to music, play games of all sorts, travel whenever I can, participate in group activities at my university and I'm also usually top of my class because I love the sciences and have a natural talent for learning and remembering. I also do magic and cardistry. Overall, I think I have a 'good' personality and my friends seem to always enjoy my company, but I've had very poor luck with women generally and I can't quite figure out why.

I've been told in the past (before college) that I'm below average in terms of looks, so I've always tried to groom myself and dress well to counter that. Also, I don't even really agree that I'm 'bad looking', I think I'm just average in terms of natural looks. But with continued poor luck with women, I'm starting to wonder if my looks are negating everything else about me. I've had female friends tell me I'm "charming" and that they think I'm good with women but my results with women have been quite the opposite.

So my question is this: Can your looks negate your personality and charm? Or is it possible to attract a woman with those traits despite your "poor" looks?

tl;dr I'm a well-groomed and dressed but poor/average looking guy with a good personality. But I've had poor luck with women. Are my looks negating everything else about me?
