However, I can think of 3 people who can or will be an enemy in the near future- one direct enemy, one overarching one, and one basically peripheral. The first 2 are my enemies in mock trial. I'd like to be excel, as it will help in college, and I see them as people who might try to stop me. However, all 3 of them are pretty alpha.

Direct Enemy: We both are on the JV team, and we have hated each other. He's my direct enemy because we both have the same position (lawyer) and are both looking to go to varsity next year. However, varsity competition is stiff. So he's my direct opposition. One common interest we share is fantasy novels, which I might be able to use to get him to like me and therefore soften up.

Overarching One: Only freshman to make varsity. He's good, I'll give him that, and he's definitely a threat. Overall, he's a much bigger obstacle because he's popular and has already developed a reputation for intelligence and skill. Our relationship can be best described as frenemies: he somewhat likes me, but doesn't seem to respect me much. Right now, he's seen as the top dog (at least for freshman) in our school's debate, mock trial, and model un. Eventually, if I want the top spot and a good reputation, I'll have to challenge him.

Peripheral One: Most stereotypical alpha: lifts, gets a lot of girls, plays football. Same group as the 1st guy. Used to have oneitis for one of his plates, and he makes fun of me because of it. Basically, I'd still like to make her my plate, partly because she's hot and partly to stick it to him.

But as I've said, all these guys are alpha. How can I challenge them and win?
