If you are cocky all the time than your not going to be viewed as insecure. If your only cocky in response to other people being cocky or when pressured then you come off as insecure.

Just like Kino if you do it early and often you comes off as a touchy feely person and people don't think twice about you gaming them through physical contact. However if you do it late and infrequent or with hesitation you comes off as creepy.

So if your going to be cocky always be cocky. Project it regularly and both instigation-ally and reactionary sometimes passively/idle.

For me, the difference between being cocky and being insecure/bragging is the context, usually cocky for me is basically when you sort of brag in context, usually in a witty way in reply to the topic. When you bring up things about yourself out of the blue that's just stupid.

Cocky:

-"Most guys don't have nice asses"

-"Yeah, you're lucky to have mine, cherish it."

Insecure:

-"We're running out of sodas"

-"You're lucky to have me, I have a great ass"

Cocky isn't a good thing. You want to be confident. There is a subtle difference. Those complements you just gave yourself come off as extremely insecure. And kinda lame.

FYI, in case you are new to TRP, the difference is that being confident shows that you don't need to say you are good at something, but actually are, and if someone says otherwise, you brush it off without letting it bug you. Being cocky is the polar opposite, in that you may be okay at something or may beat her at something, but not actually be expert at it, and still feel the need to say you are good at it regardless.
