Comp Sci opens you up for a LOT of opportunities. Anything from support to development. You'll make well into the six figure mark with that degree in NYC, but I can't really speak for profit there since everyone I know who lives in NYC pays out the ass for an apartment the size of a garbage can.

"Good Money" will come from your soft skills and network - not from your degree. Example: get a job as an engineer at a tech company and work for a few years. 95% of engineers freeze up in public and can't talk to a room full of people worth a damn. If you can learn how to be a charismatic, client facing leader among them you'll quickly be able to command twice their salary. Other option is to try to get a job on the ops side at a big bank.

Comp Sci major here.

The world is your oyster. Seriously. Few people can make something without having to invest 0 money. That's what we do.

But seriously, you can go anywhere and do anything you want, and having the degree will make you stand out because its so important now.

25 years old. Just got a raise. I'll be making 140K next year.

what are some career choices that i could pursue with that degree that could make me some good amount of money that would allow me to move out on my own.

I figured you would have thought of that before you started.
