Hey guys, I am a Black 19 year old and I go to top university in the states and I've had trouble with confidence for most of my life until I was around 18/19 but I want to know how to reach my potential. In middle school and high school, I was bullied a lot because I went to mainly white schools, and a large part was that most of my life I've had little social interaction and my dad wasn't really in my life. Once I got to college, things got better but I still spent a lot of time alone. I got my braces off, dressed better, and I received nice compliments from some girls, however I still don't feel very confident because of my really embarrassing past. For example, I was a part of a club, and I couldn't really hold a conversation with a girl and she was showing a clear interest, for example we would exchange glances and she would smile and play with her hair but I was extremely shy to approach out of the fear of rejection because I've been called ugly a lot in my life, probably due to not having Eurocentric looks. Along with this, I have a problem with comparing myself to what others are doing rather than what I am doing myself. Overall I am a mess when it comes to social interactions, but I have definitely made a lot of progress from who I used to be. I just wanted to ask how I can improve myself and get more girls.
