Hi guys.

I'm 21 and my younger sister is 10 years old. My real father was never around in my adolescent life, in fact he passed away my freshman year of high school and the last words I ever had with him were probably when I was 3 or 4. My mom had been with a couple guys here and there and eventually settled down with another male which is when my sister was born. They cut ties a couple years ago but my sister still seems him about 5+ times a year. My mother then met another male which lasted about 5 years, pretty cool dude..very very nice to my sister but a couple weeks ago my mother broke up with him cause he didn't have a job and all he would do is play ps3 all day. She payed the mortgage and 90% of all bills (I help of course)

The reason I'm posting this here is because I've recently swallowed the pill after coming out of an abusive LTR and I've done tons of reading (no mr nice guy..etc) and I'm 100% behind the theory that having an absentee father figure in ones life has many effects on an individual. I started to look at my peers that didn't have a father figure and the signs are so obvious.

A lot of people on trp suggest that females with daddy issues are a lost cause. What can I do to help my sister? I've considered reading some parenting books but have no idea where to start.

Thanks
