Last night I was out drinking with my college boys. All of us are 20 and 21. I am the token black guy of the group. We are taking shots and having a good time. Then my friend says his cousin and friends are coming to drink with us. More the merrier.

I've met and drank with the cousin (18) multiple times in the past and he's a cool guy.

So everyone is chatting it up, when the decision is made to play beer pong again. I'm already pretty fucked up at this point, and I've already played 3 games. So I tell the group I'm sitting this one out. No issue.

I'm on my phone minding my own business, when the cousin yells over telling me to play with them. I said no I'm good, maybe next game.

Then he says, "Stop being a bitch and drink, you nigger!"

Everyone is silent after that. I don't even look up from my phone and say "Why do you have to be racist, man?"

Then everyone chimes in says "yeah that's not cool bro", "Why'd you say that", etc. The whole vibe is killed and the get-together ends shortly after.

My question is did I handle this correctly?

Honestly, I do not give a shit he called me a nigger. It is just a word and he is just a dumb kid still in High School. But I don't want to pave the path towards disrespect in the future, for him or anyone else. I just want to have a good time regardless of skin color.
