Backstory: I'm a software engineer but training as a bartender on nights and weekends. They know I don't need the money, and may be jealous/ think I'm a privileged white boy.
I'm the bar (big chain) working and nobody is bringing food out so I grab a plate and run it to the table. It's been under the heat lamps so long it burns my finger. No big deal I'm a big boy, but it's kind of irritating.
Later that night I'm walking a glass back to the kitchen. Manager is in there saying two plates need to be taken out. So I go in and touch one, it's hot as fuck, so I put down and grab the other one.
Manager can and Big boss can't believe what they just saw. "Did you really just put that plate down because it's hot?!"
I answered ya I burnt my finger earlier so I'll take the other one. They could not understand.
Now, I was under the impression that this was not a big deal at all. However three other times in the night they brought it up to me. "So you never want to carry hot plates" "That was terrible" ect..
I'm unsure if this was a mistake but I tried to reason with them, "I walked into the kitchen and grabbed as many plates as I could hold", " You never specified which plate to take first", "I wasn't the only one in the kitchen" one kiss ass coworker called me a "bitch" in front the manager.
They didn't like that. I know when I go in tonight that they will bring this shit up because they are super petty. What's the best way to go about handling this? I was thinking making a joke of it, "I didn't bring my thermometer today so maybe I'll take a hot plate" but don't want to come off as a smartass. I'm dealing with two urban women. What's the RP response.
