Now we've talked lightly and met up once. It was decent she seemed cool. She made it clear she wanted to hangout in the future. I suggest us going on a date. She straight up said she doesn't want to go on a date. But, would love to chill. That's what I don't get.

Is there a difference? I feel like there isn't. But, maybe "date" sounds too formal?
