Not necessarily; some of those things can make you a really interestint and fun person to be around, hence more attractive. If you are needy for acceptance, though, that will shine through and kill any chance of you getting laid. Humour, dressing well and the rest are only as convincing as your conviction.

Why?

Why are you trying to invoke positive reactions in others?

If you're doing it for external validation, then yes... anything you do for others is beta behaviour.

If you're doing it because you have a goal in your mind which requires you to be liked by others, e.g. getting elected, then you're working towards that goal and therefore operating inside your own frame, which is alpha.

You need to court attention. You don’t exist in a vacuum. There’s a balance between outcome independence and the fact that to be in the top 20% of males you must be aware of how other people perceive you - and be willing to manipulate their perception.

In your comments you said you’re doing it out of neediness. Change the way you attract attention through more masculine mindsets and behaviors, and you’ll kill two birds with one stone. You’ll feel a lot more comfortable with and proud of yourself, and you’ll be surprised at the attention you’ll get. You’ll get lots of unwanted attention. Better to be politely pushing men and women away than impolitely leeching after their acceptance.

Not really, if that's just your personality then role with it. If you are an attention seeker out of neediness, that's when you become unattractive.

You can be funny, goofy, even make lame jokes...It won't hurt you SMV much. Yet, it shouldn't be done as a reaction to intimidation (reaction to stress), otherwise it would make you beta. Do it from a place of confidence, it can even raise your SMV in some situations.

I'll say this: All the clothing, abs, humor, etc. is just perfect for attention. HOWEVER, you may never put any conscious focus on those aspects when you're socializing. People will see instantly if you're actually fully engaged in the interaction of if you're relying on those aspects to do the work for you.

One time at a festival I saw two guys, "skinny guy" and "lifting guy". So a girl ended up standing near them and skinny guy started a conversation. Meanwhile lifting guy just awkwardly stood close. Even crossed his arms to make his biceps look a bit bigger. All this was so obvious to me. Skinny guy was fully engaged in the interaction and was getting somewhere while lifting guy relied on his biceps alone.
