Dread is fundamental. As with everything, the emotional impact of any input diminishes over time. If in the beginning of your relationship you were fit and dominant, and then you stop displaying those traits, the attraction they generated will fall off very rapidly. Don't expect women's emotional state to be based on much more than the present moment and its immediate temporal/mental vicinity.
Dread means keeping that attraction up by keeping your SMV up. The response this will generate in her is what we call dread: the consideration, mostly subconscious, that by being fit and dominant you have many more options than her, so she needs to work to keep you around.

Why is dread evil? It simply describes a state of being, and whilst we have ascribed a negative name to it, that doesn't necessarily make it a bad thing.
"Dread" refers to your wife/girlfriend knowing that there are other women interested in you. That's it. Not that you are pursuing other women - that's thirst. Just that other women are naturally attracted to you. You don't even need to openly acknowledge it, as long as she knows.
You don't "perform dread". You either have it or you don't.

It is. Any LTR will take you for granted. Women are hypergamous. In order to keep yours in check, she needs to know you have the ability to find a better version of her with the snap of your fingers. It keeps her focused on you and on her toes.
Dread is necessary, especially in LTR's. LTR's are not necessary, and that's why I don't bother with them.
