This girl is a 4-month FWB with some small level of emotional investment but is not my girlfriend. I just want to make sure soft-nexting is the best thing to do and I'm not being a snowflake. She's nervous about the prospect of me hooking up with someone else on NYE (visiting 3000miles away from her) so this is a rough time for her to get soft-nexted by me. Here is a paraphrased summary of a text conversation yesterday:

Me: So you have prelims around the same time as midterms? Rough

Her: Yeah my program seems more difficult than yours, or at least that's the impression I get. Yada yada yada

Me: *corrects her in two sentences, say programs not so easy to compare and mine is uniquely challenging*

Her: I'm not saying yours is easy, but mine is very rigid. Blah blah blah, 3 long messages

Her (30min later): Are you mad at me? Sorry if I was being insensitive. Can you tell I'm burnt out?

Me (15min later): I was just busy focusing on work, don't think you're as burnt out as I've been *2 messages describing rigors of my program*

Her: Again, I'm not comparing *talks more about how hard her program is* blah blah blah... I think we're equally burnt out

Me: I'm not very burnt out any more. In my first year, the overwork affected my health in a few specific ways.

Her: I'm glad you're not burnt out anymore.

Me: I am, just not as much as before

Her: OK

...radio silence...

Am I handling this right with radio silence? I'm just gonna wait for her to message me again before I say anything to her.
