You're not centered OP. Be resolute. Be a man. Pick whatever believes reside with you and stick to them. Don't try to be logical or reasonable, just do you. For me It's either 50-50 (we pay for our halves) or they occasionally want to treat me.

First date thoughts (what's worked for me):

Make sure the first date is something that you want to do. Even easier if you're near a big city, there are many options, a lot of them very low cost. Also, if she bores the nuts off you, it's either relatively close to your fuck-pad, or you can end things quick and not feel guilty about her getting home (oops, bp thought there!)
If she offers to pay for something or go dutch, don't argue. Amazingly, it scores a lot of points! Women like feeling independent but make sure it's on your terms.
Dinner is not a good idea for a first date. Something I've done with one of my ladies if we're on an actual date is to make sure eating is more of a necessary function rather than a date situation. If you're so busy on your date that all you have time for is a Subway, then that reinforces how awesome your date is. Also, nothing is worse than being at a fancy restaurant and you've run out of conversational steam before the starter has arrived. There's nothing wrong with pizza!

at the very least don't let her just take it for granted that you're gonna pay and it doesn't even need to be discussed. bring it up.

when you're paying you can say "alright your half is xxx..." if she seems surprised, "oh you wanted me to pay for the whole thing? what do I get out of it... are you gonna make out with me later? give me a kiss on the cheek right now as a down payment." playful stuff, you could also say "you're not a gold digger are you?" with a smile on your face. "ok good, just checking."

Man = negotiate.

Whenever you are stumped what to do as a man. Negotiate.

"Ok, you pay for this, I'll buy you a beer next."

Don't just negotiate for fairness, negotiate for advantage. Have her in your pocket at all times.

One girl I was texting (met online and building rapport) with wanted a Guinness. Later we were texting about cumshots and I said I'd buy her a Guinness if she let me cum on her face. We finally made a plan to meet and she said she really wanted that Guinness. And I brought it up "you mean the Guinness I buy you that let's me cum on your face?" Her response? "Guess I'll buy my own :(".

Solved. Or I get to plaster her face. Win-win. Kind if a silly example, but you see where this is going. It takes practice to be a good negotiator. You'll start to see how you can start stringing it along, and become strategic about it. Think before you give an offer, or you can corner yourself.
