It's when you justify something to yourself so you don't feel guilty. It's not actually exclusive to women. It's the reason anybody does anything wrong. They feel like it's okay when their mind justifies it. It's like when a woman cheats because "he doesn't treat her right" or when a guy fucks your girlfriend because "if I didn't, somebody else would anyway". On a lighter note, it's when you eat an ice cream sandwich even though you're trying to lose weight because you deserve it for working hard today. Personally I think it sounds condescending to call it hamstering and it's shit like that that gives this sub a bad reputation. We should really start using the English language and just call it justification or whatever the best word for the particular context is.
