I've realized part of the reason video games were so integral in my life was that I leveled up every few minutes. I unlocked new weapons, got a checkpoint, etc with what I'm now realizing is very little effort (though back then I thought I was the shit)

I've broken the cycle of instant gratification through habit. Right when I get home, I throw on my gym clothes and I'm there. I don't even think about it. The gym was closed for MLK and I felt off the entire day. All I had to do was force myself to go for a week and now it's ingrained in me

What I haven't escaped is the high of "Weapon unlocked!". I feel very dissatisfied because after a week of gym and mass eating, my body looks the same. After a week of guitar, I feel like I'm playing the same. Obviously I know these things are normal, you can't sculpt a body or learn an instrument in a week, but I feel the need to progress in real life at video game speed even though I know it's impossible. How can I help this craving for quick progress and instant results?
