I'm 21 and for most of my teenage years I sat at home playing video games and since 17 it got really bad. There were times I'd go 2 weeks without leaving the house. This lead to my social skills deteriorating.

About a month ago I started trying to change my life. I'm trying to lose weight as I'm fat. I'm gonna start fixing my teeth as they're cavity riddled and severely crooked. My attitude towards life has changed and honestly since my enlightenment to how the world really works I've seen my general happiness improve.

My main problem right now is I suck at being social. Around everyone really but especially around strangers and acquaintances.

I have no idea how to small-talk.

I never know what to say in a conversation. I always seem nervous, fidgety and anxious. At work everyone converses so naturally, but with me it's like I'm always trying to think of what I'm going to say next. I can never just relax, actually be in the moment and let the conversation flow naturally.

I always end up trying to be funny, saying some stupid joke or just coming off like an awkward, fidgety goof.

I've only been at this job a week so maybe that has something to do with it, but I doubt it because I'm like this with everyone.

I'm tired of trying so hard, I wish being a good conversationalist just came naturally to me like it does others.

This is one of the main reasons I've never even kissed a girl. Yeah I'm low SMV at the moment but I've seen way uglier dudes than me get laid by decent looking chicks because they know how to talk to women. I always get put into the friendzone pretty quickly because of my shitty game and social skills.

Girls that have been interested in me before and would've given me a chance are always quickly turned off once they get to know me.

How do I change this?
