I was talking to my best friend's wife about an acquaintance of ours tonight. He had been dating my ex-fiancee and she broke up with him because he lost his job. The guy has been begging her to take him back, was crying to my friend's wife about it, etc.

This all led to a conversation where I was trying to explain the difference between alpha and beta types to my friend's wife because he had fallen into the beta provider role. After a few minutes of trying to explain it she asked me, "So what does that make you? Omega?"

I was completely speechless for a moment and even still, I don't quite know how to answer that. She didn't quite understand the difference between the personality types and her comment was meant to be lighthearted but it just... Hit me wrong. I used to be the beta type but left that behind even before I discovered TRP, largely thanks to my hypergamous bitch of an ex.

The chance to respond has come and gone but how would you folks have responded?

EDIT: I should add that my best friend's wife is actually a good friend who I have a lot of respect for. Her and my friend have a very red pill-like relationship and she's usually great to talk to about anything. That's why that comment blindsided me so much.
