I think that it's a byproduct of being bullied at school years ago. I never feel completely comfortable around strangers.
It used to manifest itself as anxious behaviour, but I got pissed off at myself for seeming weak, so I got better at hiding it, and now it comes across as hostile.
A usual example would be; if someone unexpectedly asks me something I will feel a rush of anxiety, then my involuntary reaction is to glare at them angrily. It's a defence mechanism, and I want to overcome it, because it's isolating myself from the rest of the world.
I go to the gym, I am tall and good looking, which attracts looks from girls, but then when I see them look I get anxious and default to the angry look, which scares them away. Has happened so many times. Also with guys who are trying to be friendly.
I don't know if I need therapy, or to just practise talking to strangers and approaching women. It could be a mental health thing I don't know.
