Video Games are hated by the RP pill community because it seems like nobody has moderation about them.
They aren't different from any other kind of time-wasting activity and that doesn't mean that they are totally bad for you.
Let's accept the fact that nobody is able to be constantly doing something to increase their SMV like lifting or studying, your mind needs a break.
Of course that if you play all day long you have a problem but that doesn't mean that you have to cut them off, limit your play time gradually until you play no longer that an hour per day and eventually the addiction will stop.

The best way is to literally remove yourself from the video game. As in, go outside. Get a job, make some friends, pick up a hobby (outside the computer room) etc. Put yourself into situations where you are physically unable to play and you will forget about them.

Videogames can activate your brain's pleasure circuits by making you release dopamine.
What you would want to do is to (slowly! drastic changes don't last long and are hard to maintain, specially if you try to make many changes) move some of the time spent on videogames to other activities linked to dopamine release.
Hobbies and exercise are good ways to make your brain release more dopamine. So begin lifting, and move some time from videogames to other activities that will make you a better man, and increase your SMV, for example, playing an instrument.

I used to have my console in my room so every night I would play until dawn. What I did was move my console into the basement of our house, where I don't usually go to unless I do my laundry. Needless to say, I haven't touched my Khajiit in 6 months now.

Khajiit is a species of Cat people in the Elder Scrolls game series. He means that he hasn't had pussy in a while.

Get rid of all the gaming paraphernalia. You can't play with what isnt there.

If they're not fun anymore, you're already on the way to quitting. Personally I won't quit because I enjoy them, very moderately though. If you really want to quit, take all of your consoles and games and just sell them on ebay dude. You can make alot of money on that stuff. Spend the cash on some clothes.

Sell all of them and use the money to join a gym or another type of social activity. You can't use what you don't have.

Does your gear have any resale value? I'd sell that shit and buy something useful. Hard to play videogames if you literally don't have a console or game.
