I really want to start talking to and dating women, but I know my life isn't quite in the right place. Problem is I've been holding off talking to women for about a year now and I'm starting to get pretty lonely. I just don't think I'm interesting enough as a person, for men or women. I like a few things, but I don't tend to share what I like and I'm overly formal when talking to people.

A lot of my coworkers hang out together outside work but when we're working together they don't really talk to me much. I don't think it's a dislike thing for reasons I won't go into, but I've noticed I just don't have any social edge.

I have a small smattering of friends here and there, but they really only talk to me because I can do stuff for them. As I type this I realize the people I'm friends with I usually just help them with things like moving, cleaning their house or yard-work. Otherwise I might as well be a leper.

I'm also waiting until I graduate from University and develop interesting hobbies/gather financial success, but the problem is it doesn't really seem to be happening. I won't be graduating for about another year and I feel like whenever I "think" about a hobby I would enjoy, it's because I think doing said thing would make me look more respectable to women, rather than be something I straight up enjoy.

As far as finances go, they're okay. I work hard and my coworkers like me and I don't overspend but I'm no engineer and I won't be after college , that would be sweet though. Too bad I'm dumb as fuck.

I just feel like I've hit a wall. I hate my boring, approval-seeking personality and I'm tired of being alone, but I don't know how to change it or where to start.

tl;dr I want to add value to other people's lives, as well as my own. Where do I start?
