Hey guys, little bit of a backstory for you. I recently got my dream job and have been regularly interacting with extremely successful people. This has made me become extremely judgmental to others. I was a wreck in high school/college and I turned my life around in every aspect. Now, when i see people who don't have that same drive as my co-workers/bosses and I have, I judge them. I tell myself how bad their fashion is, how they are going no where in life, how can they live like that and be okay with it?

The terrible part on top of that, is that I turn it around and wreck my self-esteem while I'm at it. For example, when someone with no fashion sense, no hobbies, no money etc. is with an extremely attractive girl. Thoughts like "how can this "loser," get her? I have this, this and this and he doesn't, how is that fucking possible? Why even bother making tons of money, going to the gym, and having hobbies when it doesn't even matter." It tremendously (I assume) lowers my self-esteem.

I only see people for what value they can offer me. If you are "below me," then I will avoid you like the plague. If you are below me, but useful for something, I will use you. If you are on the same level we'll get along. If you are above me, I'll probably end up looking weak, kissing your ass, and being manipulative to figure out how I can use you to get on your level. If you're an attractive girl, I'll take you out to nice dinners, to meet friends, etc. because it validates the shit out of me.

I know people will call me a douchebag with no empathy or humanity. But I've recognized the problem and I'm really trying to reach out to you guys to learn specifically how to change the way I think the way I do. A friend suggested I read "How to win friends and influence people," so I am starting off with that. Any other advice would be appreciated.
