Intro

Maladaptive Daydreaming- causes intense daydreaming that distracts a person from their real life. Many times, real-life events trigger day dreams.

This is not healthy, i want to live in the moment not some fantasy world. I want to stop rationalizing bc there's occasional daydreaming of being famous and then there is this. if i were to self diagnose, this is a defense mechanism, think about it. You go into a perfect world where you create your own stories with thrill, chaos etc point being you play god and become a perfectionist in your perfect little world with perfect things to say. why? bc you cannot control everything in real life and everything is not perfect.

Negative affects that it had on me

  • rejecting or trying my best to avoid change
  • social isolation
  • time wasted
  • lack of responsibility

Further Analysis

it started for me when i was 9(or that's what i remember) -my mother had passed away around this time of my life and to cope with it after a month i remember thinking up crazy stories like how shes just undercover spy but in the back of my head i always knew that I'm just making fiction. As life went on i figured i would use this to cope with the smallest of life problems -of course i wasn't aware of what i was doing

Anyways, i could be overreacting and this may not be that serious -i'm still "normal" and if this were cancer i would be stage 1 but once i started reflecting back i could see how even just the time wasted on this can destroy my life.

Solution

Meditation- i have only been meditating for a few days now but this sounds like a good solution in theory.

is there anything else i can do?
