Look at the big man, and from a totally neutral standpoint.

I'm no fan of Trump, I'm certainly not a flag-waving patriot who hates China and wants to build a wall on the Mexican border - I'm not even from the US.

But at the same time I'm not some metropolitan middle-class "elite" who is so out of touch with America they thought it could never happen, and have been horrified, daily, since he won.

Trump is not a fucking idiot, he's playing a game. He knows that people living in the Hamptons or Beverley Hills are never going to vote for him, because he's a Republican. That's why he appeals to people from Dogfucker, Nebraska and has done since day one. The wall? He's built about 100 miles of wall but never shuts the fuck up about it. Meanwhile Obama never mentioned it and built nearly 1000 miles (of a design that is in many places basically the same as Trump's).

In short - know your audience. I'm not saying to be like Trump (unless your voter base is the same as his), but I'm saying that you should know what makes the average guy tick. You should know what makes people emotional. Don't be afraid to rock the boat and get massive criticism for having an unconventional view - if a few people who are intelligent get angry and disagree, just smile and nod, provided the main voter base will go with that view.

A speech by video is far easier than in person. I help teach public speaking. I wish I had a few days to properly prep you. But here's a few tips:

DON'T MEMORIZE YOUR SPEECH! You'll forget it under stress. Instead, memorize the basic points you want to cover. Try giving your speech a few times off the cuff to sorta feel it out.

Start off with a little humor, nothing long, and for God's sakes not political.

Don't-talk-in-the-deadly-monotone-most-speakers-use. Your competition will do this. It's out of fear and lack of practice, but it makes for a dull speech.

Instead, try to get the butterflies in your stomach flying in formation, and use that nervous energy to kick your voice up and down in pitch. It's electric. The audience will respond to it, because you obviously feel you have something worth saying!

A speech can be fun and entertaining. Those are the best ones. I've had practice at giving speeches on damn near any subject off the cuff. It's a great skill to add to your resume.

Remain cool, calm and collected on video. Humour never hurts. Appeal to emotions. And get lots of your friends on facebook, instagram (both the bros and those in higher positions in this organization), etc. to vouch for you and support you. Publicity is key. Good luck!

Know your audience.

Think from their point of view. Tell them that you’ll do things that’ll benefit them. Be specific about what you’ll do to make their lives better.

Be stoic. Never lose your cool.

This is the million dollar question isn’t it OP?

The way you win elections is by having a massive network of reliable and friendly connections. Be everybody’s friend and be passionate about helping them. If you give enough people what they want they will give you what you want. This starts by identifying your audience, identifying your voter, and identifying what are important problems to them.

Appeal to emotion.

Appeal to logos.

Befriend other student groups in your college. Be the first one to reach out to organizations like activist groups, nonprofit student unions, and work your way down to groups like the Choir. If you build a coalition of people who you’ve successfully reached out to it will build a grassroots base for your campaign.

Next on our agenda: Propaganda.

Make sure you saturate your college campus with fliers, pamphlets, signs, and attractive media. You can easily make and print hundreds of these for little to no cost. If it’s possible be sure you are active in participating in big college activities and make sure people know about it. Put up signs with you in a nice suit looking Presidential or something.

Lastly, be honest with people and yourself. People aren’t stupid. They will see right though somebody that is fake despite what others make tell you. Be passionate about your positions but make sure peoples days are improved by interacting with you. Be funny, positive, but never self deprecating. And lastly, you have to work your ass off to win an election. It costs money, time, and resources.

Policy is borderline irrelevant, especially in school settings. It is pretty much entirely popularity contest. Focus on being popular, likeable, and attractive, and you'll win the vote because none of those students actually give a remote fuck who wins.
