I recently realized that I am terrible at setting boundaries. I believe it mostly stems from me not caring. I realize there’s only so much control you can have (if any) over what other people do. So (at least) tell myself I don’t care about situation X and afterwards I feel it manifested as me not setting boundaries when I should.

As a recent example, about a week ago, I found myself in a situation with girl Y where I should’ve just left and went home.

In the moment, I could only feel contempt and trying to mask my anger with the lack of control over the situation. Hindsight, I know when I should’ve left, but in the moment, I was blind.

Is experience the only way to learn to set boundaries? Is there anything I can do on my own to realize my own boundaries?
