For personal growth, there must be risk, trial & error, failure, and you must be willing to step outside your comfort zone. These are things we all know.

Something I’ve struggled with recently is how to carry myself when I’m doing something new that I’m terrible at. Note, I am not referring to a lack of confidence and I’m not saying my self esteem is tied to the success in these activities in any way.

For example - Trying a sporty activity with people who have been playing longer and are more skilled. I try to mostly be quiet with the exception of some hyping up of my teammate(s) on mediocre or genuinely good plays and every once in a while throwing in some exaggerated shit talk to the best person there. (Like saying “I’m in your head!!” After finally taking 1 point after losing 10 in a row) Somehow there seem to be people who are better at this frame than I am though as I’ve seen others who execute it better for reasons I cannot figure out. (No halo effect or anything)

So since I plan to continue to grow and expand my horizons, I was wondering what input AskTRP might have for me to better carry myself while I’m being a newbie.
