Get the fuck out of Austin, for a start. It's a hellhole if you're not in the silicon tech biz, or otherwise successful. Not to mention, the lifestyle there is overrated as fuck. San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas - Fort Worth are all much better by every possible metric except those that only matter to leftist socialists.

Furthermore, the city's besieged by dickheads moving there everyday from California, Colorado, and the rest of the state. Which means decent jobs are hard to find, and they can get away with paying you poorly.

What's stopping you from going to Midland/Odessa? Oil and Gas is on fire there, I hear. If you don't want to work in Oil and Gas any more, good news: So many people are ditching all the other work, to hit the oilfields, dudes with criminal records are getting all kinds of other jobs they normally wouldn't be considered for.

So, if you're clean, can pass a piss test, and don't look like Charles Manson, I'm sure you could walk right into a decent job there.

The housing situation would still suck... residential real estate there is fucked. But, you'd be making more cash while living in your truck.

6 months to a year of earning more dough, and you'd be ready to move anywhere you wanted, I imagine.

1- what did you do to all that $100k you were making? 2- if you blow it all up and even used all your credit cards too, did you consider filing bankruptcy? 3- did you try finding a job in oil and gas industry overseas? American companies in Persian Gulf states may pay good money but if women is your concern too, think about Azerbaijan Republic. Big oil and gas industry beside one of hottest and most loyal women breeds in the world.

Try and keep your head up. Update your resume to include "catch words" and make it your mission to apply to at least 4 jobs each day on indeed. Look for sample resume/job description for your skills. This will help you understand important skills or experience employers are looking for in your field.

Use various search terms, remove locations filter on indeed that way you can apply to jobs in different locations.

I heard O&G industry is picking back up. You might want to consider locations like North Dakota, Alaska etc since TX is not providing you opportunities.

Above all, convince yourself that it is a numbers game. So you have to go to library everyday and apply to at least 4 jobs daily.

I only know your life from the snapshot you've shown here, but you had a really good job when you were young. Instead of conserving that money and planning a cushion for hard times, you bought things like race cars and a nice house. You jumped after some stuff a lot of 40 year olds making more than you probably haven't obtained yet. You have to take responsibility that you are to blame for not having the funds when everything crashed. On the other hand, you were young. We all fuck up. When times are good and you are young, no one really warns you that the world can turn upside down a moment later like that. So I sympathize with you.

I would really hope you don't kill yourself because you sound very intelligent and capable. Killing yourself now would be like ending a novel that's going to start getting better in a few chapters which, in your case, might be as far away as five years. But if you knew your life was for sure going to get better in five years, you'd stay in the game.

I don't know enough about Texas to know the different economies of different towns. I grew up in a place where only highly successful and highly educated people can afford good housing. I was a college drop out and had no chance at ever obtaining anything in life there, so I moved some place where I could work in unskilled professions, have easy transportation access via bus/walking/bike and pay very cheap rent. That place was Las Vegas.

I still think Vegas is extremely cheap compared to the rest of the country. Cost of living here is nothing and if you can read a Dr. Suess book, you're already smarter than half the people working in casinos. We are on the advent of having a huge boom here with all the construction jobs centered around the Raiders stadium and a few other big casino projects that were put on hold through the recession. I cannot say I was exactly in your shoes, but our similarity is that I ran out of life force. I hit a dead end. I was ready to either kill myself or do something daring. So by daring, I moved all the way to Las Vegas without knowing anyone or having any plans. I had $1k in the bank and a car. 20 years later, I am still here. I make a fraction of what you made in your 100K job, but I have always been careful. I don't party hard. I never gamble. Only last year was I able to buy a 'nice' home that I didn't have to spend years remodeling myself.

So, my two areas of advice are to slow your roll on how you spend what you make. And don't be afraid to leave Texas to take a shot at a new identity in a new town that might just hold the greatest opportunity of your life.

Car sales. They don’t care about criminal records for the most part and you can make really solid money if you’re good at it.

Used car dealerships may be the easiest to get a job at.

You generally need to be a good people person though. $5k/month is attainable at most dealerships your first year, after that $10k/month+ is also possible if you’re a top performer.

I dont understand you americans. Is life in usa so expensive or what? I live in eastern eu. I make 7€ per hour. Its around 13 dollars per hour.

I live fine. I soon have enougj saving to buy house.

Fucking make a budget and start saving you lazy shit.
