A lot of this comes down to one idea... time.

In the eyes of others, time works like this; the more your time is available, the more you pay attention to others, the less they value you. There are levels of what you can consider important in your life, yes? Well, those levels become quite obvious to those around you by your actions. So, if you say, "this is important, that is important to me" but you're not actually actively engaged in those things, then it is evident that is not the case, you're all talk.

People are not stupid generally speaking. In other words, they pick up on this even if they're of subpar average or of average intelligence. When they do, you're viewed to them based upon what they have picked up by your actions. Sure, you can fool people, but only to an extent, only for so long. There are processes taking place at a subconscious level which people examine and say, "I call bullshit." And when they do, you're left being treated by them based upon how they have evaluated you at this level, the idea they've created of you (so you can look busy and not actually be busy, and the affects will be the same).

So simply do. There is no need to command or say anything. If you want to demand more, show people. Show people how valuable your time is to you, and they will see that is the case... they will expect that they must provide more to, and respect something that is valuable (would you pay top dollar for something valuable? Yes, because it is valuable it is worth your money, which in most all cases means it is worth your time). In all cases, you're selling yourself as a product.
