How to kill it at university?

Okay, so I'm actually a UK uni student who kills it so I have some advice to offer you. I go to a Russell group London uni.

You're right that not having halls to start off with will hold you back, but not significantly. Where are you staying? If you're at home that's more trouble. If you're at a house with other flatmates that's okay.

First thing you gotta do is go to all the icebreakers and society events. Make friends with the people who DO live in halls. These we will be your connections. They will invite you to parties or club nights, and pre drinks will be at their halls. Use every event you go to to make more connections; treat freshers week as a mass networking week. After freshers everyones splits off into their own groups anyway, your aim is to make enough friends that you get absorbed into 2 or 3 groups. You can either be firmly within a "squad" in its whatsapp/Facebook group chat, or on the sidelines of many. In my first year I had a squad and we all hung out together; eventually it gets stale. If you're a side member of multiple squads you can meet plenty more people and there's always fresh girls. Screwing within your squad is frowned upon, but having female friends that link you to other female friends and provide social values at clubs is great.

On that note, go clubbing with the girl friends you make. You won't pull if you all enter as a group of boys. Pulling at a club is increasingly difficult nowadays. If you're not 6ft4 and gorgeous you're going to have a hard time.

However, freshers week clubbing is easy mode. If you're going to pull its going to be that week. Go to all your university club events, that's where you'll meet girls at your uni who'll take you back to their dorms.

Join societies; you don't need to go to them later on, no one really does, all you need to do is meet people and break off with them. If you're interested in any sports get in on them quick; becoming friends with all the Lads is a sure way to meeting the hottest girls. You don't need to actually become a Lad, but if you have their approval then the girls around you will rate you higher.

Don't be a depressed loser and spend all your time in halls. Be out and about consistently. Make friends with people on your course; after freshers they'll be the people you hang with the most. Make sure you're included in the course Facebook group and group chat, you'll be in the "in" group, and you'll also get a lot of coursework help. Once again, I suggest being a fringe member of many circles rather than a deep member of one. My circles go like this:

The people I used to live with. Still am in contact with them. Am no longer deep in their squad but am considered a rare presence or "special guest" when I come to events with them. Lots and lots of gorgeous girls in this group, didn't screw them when we lived together, don't screw them now. Gorgeous girls stick together, so they have gorgeous girl friends I flirt with and screw. Rumours spread amongst my group about who and how I fuck the girls, and my squad consider me a bit of a "douchebag lothario". The rumours only go to help me get laid more. It's pre-selection. When we go to clubs/bars, walking in with 8s and 9s and being comfortable and friendly around them makes every other girl in the bard hyper-interested, cold approaching becomes easier. Don't screw your female squad-mates, they are more useful to you in the long run than an awkard fuck. Cultivate friendships with them, especially the mother hen. You never want to lose her approval.

2 - While my old flatmates were kind of basic and preppy, I also run with the smokers at uni. We get together and blaze, and go to all the cooler parties with the actual good music. Smoking weed at uni puts you into contact with all the cool people; and these are where you find the bad bitch girls who take themselves too seriously and post too much on Instagram. They are often less well put together than the upper class 10s and foreign students at halls, but they have more and better friends, cooler hobbies and fuck like pornstars.

3- course friends. I made friends with the smart people and Asians super quick. Don't choose friends just cos they look like you. The Asians are chill people, and will always have your back when I comes to exam prep and coursework. They'll be the ones you rely on most as exam time comes closer, and you'll be spending a lot of time with them. They can also hook you up with the library girls; the girls who are studious and shy and you won't see at pre drinks or parties, the ones who don't go out much and spend their days at school; these girls are normally super cute and LTR material.

Basically my advice is make as many friends as possible, and then weed out the ones you like and stick with them. Carpet bomb the place, make lots of casual connections, network LOADS, that's what university is for, and freshers is the perfect time.

Remember everyone is just as nervous and anxious about meeting people as you are. People love it when another person takes charge of the social discourse, it makes them comfortable and they can ride along with no effort.

First of all, lift. And capitalize on these 4 characteristics: fun, dominance, leadership, easygoing. Build friendships with other alpha guys that you'll hang out with often. Get connected to parties. And don't mess up your future career.

Rush a fraternity. Idk how Greek life works there but I'd say that's the move. If that's not for you cultivate a large social circle. Always sit next to hot chicks in class and talk to them. Approach, approach, approach. Be sociable + have lots of friends + run tight game = totally crushin puss.

I'm at a Russel group uni.

1) Join a sports team, rugby is ideal but whatever you're into/good at. (You don't actually have to be any good at a sport these are more drinking clubs/frats than anything).

2) Make an active effort to meet up and do stuff with a wide range of people. Once you have identified a core group of people who have the traits/interests that you're looking for, cultivate the relationships. Keep being social though, go into town with different groups of people whilst building the main friendships.

3) Join the uni gym.

4) First year is for fucking about. Make sure you do the work at the crucial times but at the same time make sure you're not being too much of a slave to your degree. It doesn't count towards the final result first year.

Studies come first. Fuck everything else. Sure try and be social and make friends and meet girls but this is just a couple of years which will shape the rest of your life so choose your priorities wisely.

Remember: Everyone is in the same boat as you, so take FULL advantage of that fact. In my first year I spoke to everyone and made a really good set of friends, people have just started getting to know each other so play in to that and just be friendly with everyone.

DO NOT apply any RP truths to your female flatmates. You will regret it. You must simply nod your head and keep your mouth shut when it comes to social/political issues.

That rule exists only for your female flatmates though. Speaking from experience
