My prom is coming up in less than two weeks.

Until two days ago, i was almost certain that the girl I wanted to take already had a date. However, recently her friend told me that she wasn’t going with anyone.

My plan is to approach her early in the morning when she is usually in the library studying by herself. How should I approach her though? Do I just go straight in and be direct? Should I small talk a bit?

We never really talked so I don’t know if I should try to create small talk to build that initial comfort.
