Rule #1 don't compliment her looks, if you are going to talk about her looks pick something specific like I like the way you did your hair etc....

Rule #2 give value, comment on her post in a meaningful way especially if there is a message behind it

Try this, don't ask any questions for a while. Just make statements or tell a story that you remember when you look at the photo

In short open with a compliment. If a girl likes you she will reply something, a smiley face at least.

I am not to obsessed about the text game and all of this BS, just concentrate on your IG being as value displaying as possible. The higher your value - more followers, more engagement, photos from cool places, photos having fun, photos or videos displaying talents and achievements - the higher is the change she will like you.

Still it is always smarter not to concentrate too much on one single girl. Maybe she has a boyfriend, maybe she is lesbian or maybe she is just plain busy an non interested. The wider net you cast the more results you can get. There are billion people on Instagram after all.

See if she has her Snapchat name in her bio. And add her on Snapchat since not many people talk with each other on Instagram's DM. If it isn't in her bio, then you can ask for her Snapchat in dm's

I was in the same spot a few months ago.

so, #1 is message her, about anything, just get a conversation going.

red flags:

if she's been online since you messaged her but it doesn't say "seen" that doesn't mean she's unaware of your message, she just didn't click on it.

that's a bad sign.

#2: if she says anything like "interesting" or anything like that when you tell her a story, that's another bad sign.

Responding quickly and whatnot isn't enough.

So I haven't tried the Instagram thing, so this is not empirical, but I had the impression that Instagram was just attention whores who use their attractiveness as bait to feel important but are a complete waste of time to try to start anything with.

along with all the other sound advice in this thread, make sure you have a fairly interesting profile that conveys value, who you are, etc. Then i’d say pop up to her story with an interesting/funny comment because even tho it might be harder, it drastically improves your chances of a reply than just a simple “hey”
