My career path is to become a professional soccer coach. When asked why I want to become one, I cite love for the sport and the desire to achieve glory and accumulate awards as reasons why. I essentially seek legendary status. In my coaching courses, I am told that it is purely love for the sport that gets people far, and that those who prioritize a paycheck tend to not become professional or get as far as others who coach out of passion.

Of course, I do think about the financial aspect of it. I need a paycheck so I can move out of my parent’s house ASAP, but I’m worried that this gloryseeking could hinder me from achieving my bigger goals if what I said above holds true.
