How am I supposed to date a girl after knowing that she’s probably spent her life sleeping with guys like you all?

Yes.

Did you get good results with it?

[–]AnabolLecter0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I haven't done the exact same routine but I know how it is and it looks very well balanced to me. Do it.

It’s a good routine in general. Whether it is good for you depends on whether it gives you the results you want

[–]2254567 1 points1 points1 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Are you running that program?

[–]whatdidshewrite0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

No it doesn’t have a fast enough progression for me

[–]2254567 1 points1 points1 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

What routine are you running then?

If you don’t mind me asking.

I run SL5x5 normally but I injured my legs so I’ve been doing an upper body push-pull for a while now

[–]RPassoire0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Been running it since 6 months now. Had previously a couple of months of calisthenics training but diet was shit back then. Here are my 5RM, at current weight ~70kg: Bench: 85kg, OHP: 57.5kg, DL: stopped because of back injury, High Bar Squat: 90 kg (I know it's trash but I couldn't squat for months because of that back injury)

My physique has changed quite a bit in 6 months, and I'm very satisfied. This is likely beginner gains coupled with a good diet, but a lot of people seem to recommand SL or SS if you're a complete begineer, which might be good at first so you can get used to going to gym regularly. But I know a couple of guys from my gym who look like they don't lift at all after more than a year on those programs. Maybe their diet sucks so who knows.

I made a couple of personal changes from the Reddit PPL but overall you will get stronger on it as you train each main compound 2 times per week. However unlike SL or SS, you also have plenty of volume with it.

Only issue is that sessions can last 90 minutes or more sometimes if your rest times are not short.

So If you can go to the gym everyday, I'll definitely choose that over the"classic"recommendations.

YMMV

pretty impressive progress for just 6 months. been lifting much longer than you but I'm weaker than you. How was your diet like? Were you on a bulk the entire time?

[–]RPassoire0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Yes, I have been bulking the entire time, I aim for 1kg per month, as I noticed that my bench started stalling when I was not gaining weight. The fat gains are very reasonable, I can probably keep going for another 6 months before cutting.

At the moment this means ~3500 kcal a day, so I have to eat every 3 hours in general. As a student my diet is pretty simple, rice, milk, oatmeal and bread for carbs, eggs, almonds/nuts and peanut butter for fat, chicken breast, ground beef and whey for protein.

[–]2254567 1 points1 points1 points 7 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

3500 calories? That’s a lot man. Are you extremely physically active outside of the ppl routine or something?

[–]RPassoire0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I know, that sucks but I have always been skinny all my life, never went above 60kg (for 1m82) until I started counting the cals... Lifting is the only physical activity I do, and frankly I would not be able to do anything else. 6 days a week at the gym is quite exhausting.

I think at some point I'll have to start making shakers and shakers because it's the easiest way to reach the daily calories requirements.
