My father hasn't taught me much.

I'm going to be living on my own soon. Moving from suburbs to city. Don't have many life skills -- know how to start and use a lawn mower, do dishes, wash laundry, make really basic meals like spaghetti and mac and cheese, file taxes, grocery shopping.

Going to be in Seattle. What kind of car would be good if I want to go outside the city?

What are some practical things a man should know how to do that I should learn before my move? Any city specific skills to learn that I might not know of from my sheltered suburban life.

I realize this is broad question but most of my experience has been theoretical and looking for practical day to day skills I should look into.
