Why LTR a girl that is flaunting her backup option right in front of your face? Even if it is a shittest the underlying premise shows she doesn't take the relationship seriously. Girls aren't dumb they know how to behave in serious relationships.

She wants to keep him around either as an option (if he broke up with her) or for validation (if she broke up with him). The commenters are exactly right that if she were really into you, she wouldn't want to be hanging around this guy. Consider who is more invested in the relationship. It sounds like you are.

It was a shit test, if she thought you were by far the best option, she wouldn’t risk saying something goofy like that.

Regarding how to handle it: I think Patrice O’Neal’s take on the black Phillip show sums this up nicely. If they’re threatening to leave, chase em out.

I’d respond with, “I’m not sure. A lot of guys think girls with boyfriends are the easiest to sleep with, since there’s only one guy to compete with. He prolly thinks he has you in the bag haha.”

Not only am I not bothered, but if she does anything, she has to face the reality that she’s easy.

I’d also work in that most guys don’t approach women for the woman’s benefit. Men approach women bc they think they have a good shot to sleep with them, and don’t really give the woman a thought other than that.

Now every time a guy approaches her, she feels a twinge of disgust.

A tip: if you want to know if she’d do something, ask her if she can imagine one of her friends doing a certain thing. 9/10 times they end up projecting their own feelings onto someone else.

Ehh sure there’s the option to just dgaf or demote, but I’d just nonchalantly comment to that and say hey if you wanna go hang with your ex then go ahead I’m not gonna control you but don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. Sets a boundary and shows abundance mentality on your part

Been there, tried doing the "you are free to do whatever the heck you wanna do with your life, but im out of it if you do that", ofc it didnt worked out as i expected.

What would i have done? Don't say shit, demote to plate, start wearing a rubber (if you don't already).

If she even has the courage to ask you how you feel about her hanging out with her ex ==> not LTR material/doesnt see you has high value enough.
