Marcus Aurelius wasn't really stoic, so why do you guys recommend his book?

Only someone working to overcome an issue could give others advice on overcoming that issue. Given his position Marcus would have had to work hard to keep any sort of stoic frame.

No one is a stoic.

We are people and some use stoic principles to get the most out of life.

These principles we call stoic existed before someone put a name on them, and people do it without knowing it as stoicism.

When I read about stoicism many things clicked. It was a well familiar concept, but it was called stoicism instead of just being "how I see the world".

Marcus Aurelius used stoic principles to control his temperament and life. He failed many times, but the book is his reflections on these failures. His meditations if you'd like.

There were many men who gave good advice without following it.

Just because they were contradicting themselves doesn't mean that said advice has no merit when you apply it to your situation.

I'm not following. Is someone born stoic? Or are you speaking about his own claim of himself?

Also why does that have anything to do with recommending Meditations?

Does Mark Manson even lift?

Is Robert Greene even a powerful man?

Was Niccolo Machiavelli really a prince?
