That wasn't mate guarding. You are shitting in his yard. What would you do? You have to get her out of his frame, THEN it is mate guarding. But would you really want to fight over a woman? (psssst. the answer is no.)

Since nobody's given you any good advice so far I'll give you some guidelines on how to handle situations like these in the future.

First of all, you did nothing wrong, the guy wasn't alpha because he got in your face, I have no idea what the idiots in this thread are on.

Even if you stepped over the line with her like grabbing her ass when she was clearly not interested or something like that, the normal course is that she would slap you, not call upon her boyfriend. He is a fool to not let her handle unwanted attention. She's a skank that enjoys having two men fighting for her, it makes her wet.

Plausible deniability is your friend. You shouldn't make your intentions official until you've isolated her. But it isn't that important in a situation like this.

In a situation like this you should remain friendly and deescalate without showing any weakness. Mentally low people like this couple prey on weakness, they are at the level of dogs so they will attack on perceived weakness or submit at perceived strength.

With your body language you should show that you're not backing down while with your words you should back down by saying things like "Oh, I didn't know she was your girlfriend! You guys look like a great couple, congratulations man!" say it with raised eyebrows, then a smile and an offer of a handshake. If he's just staring at you say "Well I hope you'll have a good night" and walk away. Notice the difference in nuance between "I didn't know she was your girlfriend" and "I didn't know you were her boyfriend" or worse "I didn't know she had a boyfriend". Don't say sorry, don't offer apologies, focus only on the man, not her.

This way you ve deescalated the situation without having lost face and still being the more dominant and you won't feel frustrated. If he still wants to fight everybody will know he's being an aggressive asshole and you hopefully will have people on your side.

There is nothing to gain by escalating a situation like this. She'll go home with him even if you kick his ass. Whores like her feed on drama.

She ate it up because Alpha mateguarding is attractive. Whining at your LTR for interacting with other guys is beta mateguarding. Dominating other men in front of your girls is attractive Alpha mateguarding.

We are great apes. Similar to gorillas and chimpanzees. Alphas of these species use physical dominance to keep men away from their women. They don't read their females text messages and complain that she talking to other guys.

Meathead bro pulled this shit on me at the bar recently. Sadly it's what we're working on here, gettting men to cut this blue-pill crap out. Just ignore it and walk away. If he pursues you and there's nothing you can do, hopefully your game is well rounded.

In my case he pursued and i softened his face up a bit. Not my choice, but sometimes you don't have one.

It's a very typical boyfriend reaction. Most men will be off put when they come upon a scene where their GF is being hit on by a guy openly, the GF is not discouraging it, and neither party ends it abruptly once the BF shows up. It's very natural. Not to say it is good to mate guard, just common.

Now, why did the GF like it? She was having two men giving her attention and fighting over her as a desirable object. She cared about no ones feelings but her own. When it comes to men and attention, women are very selfish and shortsighted. They will wreck a great relationship to get 15 minutes of dopamine from attention. They love attention more than their man, in most cases.

That's why. In our current society, women follow their instincts in a way disdainful to most men and retarded to their stated goals.

Mate-guarding is alpha.

Mate-guarding is NOT chasing around some woman like she's gonna run away, or acting all aggressive and scared about men trying to pick her up.

Mate-guarding is being confident with the woman, more attractive than other men coming for her, and using mockery and/or force to push away those other men effortlessly.

Should I get aggressive with shitheads like that?

No. That's how men get murdered so if you want a man to punch you so hard your head cracks open hitting the ground, keep that up. Where I live it was very standard every single weekend for dudes to push and then get their heads half-caved in and spend months in hospital learning how to talk again.

I think it's fine to de-escalate the situation with a confident firm "My mistake." You can even compliment the guy saying "Nice work landing this one." You basically stroke his ego very slightly and genuinely, come across as charming and confident in uncomfortable social situations and move on to an available girl. Going on the aggressive makes little sense since she's already taken and you don't know what the guy is willing to do for her. Mate guarding is a tricky situation, but it's not worth your thought at this time unless you are in an LTR.

A couple of things to share. I was banging a plate...she was throwing herself at me...I managed her...push-pull.

Then she started to create a jealousy plotline by hitting on my friends. At first I got very upset with her (mate guarding)...but I never brought it up with the friends. I figured it would make me look weak.

They of course continued to hit on her and she used them for validation and whatever else..

I then dropped the whole thing and instead of getting upset, let her be, focused on my own things and banged other plates.

Eventually she had a meltdown which seemed a bit contrived--over-exaggerating some thing i'd done.

I haven't spoken to her in 6 weeks...but one of the guys told me he took her out on a date and she got drunk and threw herself at him.

I was upset, a bit surprised. He calmed me down saying he didn't escalate---which I believe.

So back to your original question...she's probably doing this to piss him off. He's doing what he thinks a guy should do when a woman disrespects him....you're caught in the middle of their drama.

What should this guy do? He should do what I did...when his girl has a meltdown completely devaluing him respond with "you sound butthurt...k" and disappear.

She of course will continue hitting on other guys but at the very least will respect him for walking away and one day chase him again. If he has any sense at all, he'll never speak to her again.

In your case, be mindful of where you are and the women you're gaming. When I'm out i'm careful to not go overboard with the gaming if I sense the girl has a bf, or will ask, "Your bf seems to be watching us..." if she admits he's her bf...I politely eject.

Discretion is the key to valour.

The way to deal with this is always have a strong drink on hand (something 80 proof or higher with nothing mixed and no ice). Also carry cigarettes and a lighter. When a doucher starts giving you shit, pretend you are lighting a cigarette, maybe fake stumble a bit for effect like you are buzzed, and 'spill' the liquor down the front of his pants and in the same motion, ignite the liquor with your lighter (pretending, of course, that you are aiming for the cigarette). While the fucker is standing there with his nuts on fire, just walk away smirking.
