I'll try to be short and concise. In a LTR with a girl, over a year, we both 22, live in separate places (about 40 min ride, see each other usually once a week)
Our mutual friend (or rather acquaintance) invited both of us to his birthday party - he invited us a month ago, the party takes place next weekend.
This month I was supposed to go abroad for a couple of weeks to work - it didn't work out so I am staying home. I assumed I won't be in the country so I won't go to the party, my girlfriend said she's probably gonna go. I was to be abroad so didn't even care about it.
Now fast forward, the party is taking place next weekend, I don't intend to go anyways because I'd have to drive an hour to get there and waste money and time and I don't even like that guy. I thought that since I am in the country and I am not going to the party I might as well invite my gf and tell her to ditch the party and that we might do something together. So we had this conversation:
Me: 'so since I'm not going anywhere and not going to the party you might as well come to my place and later we will go see the new bond movie' Her: 'whaat, but I really want to go to the party, I don't think that's a good idea baby'
So then I told her to think about it, and that she can do whatever she wants (not being controlling?) and that if she doesn't come I'll find myself to do something else and I'll go out with the boys or something
So my question is this: am I having unrealistic expectations and am I out of the line here? My thinking is that - since I am not going to the party then I'd preferred if she ditched it too and we'd do something together. On the other hand to be fair she made the plans earlier and I knew about it, hell I didn't even know she wanted to go so much.
In general, how should I react? I know that you can't control a woman and that all you can control is yourself; I am not asking how to make her come to me and ditch party, I'm asking how I should react?
Part of me doesn't even care, well no big deal girl, do go if care so much, I'm gonna go out with the boys and have fun as well, do whatever you want The other part, of me, I guess that's my ego, is like 'what this bitch is thinking, chose this silly party instead of hanging out with me, what the hell, I was supposed to be your priority' and so on.
So what is the proper thing to do ? The problem is not that I want her so much to come to see me, whatever, I just assumed she would ditch the party and see me, now she's rather inclined to go to there party and I don't know whether I should be cold towards her because she doesn't come and is not ready to give up the party or what to do. I can be indifferent, or I can go the other way and just be cold and or soft next(?) her because she chose other (previously made) plans.
I know that AWALT, she is not a unicorn, and that I should lift weights and conscientiously improve my SMV and not get oneitis and not get married.
edit: to be fair she doesn't even party that much and is not party girl, if there is a party we usually go together, the last party she was at was months ago
