I'm 19 years old, live at home with very protective parents. I only pay 250 per month in rent, but that doesn't include food. As part of this 250 I do chores around the house which I don't think is unfair.

Lately their grip has been getting tighter and tighter. I am required to text them everyday after work to tell them where I'm going and who with. They set up cameras in the house and watch me and my brother to see what we're up to 24/7. I recently voiced to them that I don't like the whole camera situation and updating, so they said "then you can leave" which I can't really disagree with. I make about 3200 a mo th after taxes and a one bedroom in my city starts at 1100. I've tried looking for roommates but so far nobody wants to room with a 19 year old. All of my friends don't make enough and live at home. They said if I stay I'm not a lot to have "negative energy" in the house (be unhappy with the rules).

They just told me if I change my attitude to being happy with the rules then I can stay.

My question is should I cut the rope and dive into the independent world or should I fake a smile, tell them what they want to hear and stay here while I save more money?
