I don't think "do you have a girlfriend", is always a shit test. It can actually be an indicator of interest. Or just idle chatter.

Yes is not necessarily the right answer. Sure, it gives you some preselection, but not the same as if you are actually with a girl. You could be lying, she could be ugly, she could wear the pants, etc. Those are all reasons why saying yes isnt going blow that question out of the water like you think it is.

Saying maybe or its complicated can be really effective because its an open ended answer. It gives you some mystery, preselection with plausible deniability so she doesnt feel like a homewrecker, and it allows her to make you into whatever she wants you to be in her mind.

Its complicated can mean Im a wounded baby bird fresh out of a breakup, Im fucking 3 broads at once, or anything in between. Whatever she is looking for. Also, I think women respect a man who doesnt just blurt his lifestory out to anyone who asks.
