Just ignore or say ‘nothing’ in a calm way and then change topic or better yet just stay silent. You don’t have to talk. You also don’t have to be some charismatic performing circus clown.

there are very few wrong answers - but there's always an opportunity to optimize.

I don't zone-out much, if anything I've been told the intensity of my gaze in convo's can either be a bit too intense, or later after a hook up, actually a point of arousal for her in retrospect (how even in a crowded room she felt like I was only looking/talking at her).

My point is, this happens so rarely (zoning out) so when it did happen recently, I actually had a line. a BS made up line, but it worked.

I was at a group dinner of 9 people just after new years, during covid, but in a private space/residence. While eating blackened ribeyes, I had a work text come in, which I glanced at, and it made me realize I forgot to finish a task on a project. So i zoned out and thought about who i could delegate it to/how to get it done on a Friday night without actually ejecting.

I was staring at the wall for some seconds, no idea. and a chick - a FB of a bro of mine asked: "so, earth to Prize, what's up man!?"

me, outta nowhere i spewed: " I just got 2 of the oddest texts back to back. 2 ex's both hitting me up, randomly within 15 min of each other... i mean, what are the chances?"

she smiled 'knowingly' and grinned at another chick there and said: "we are fickle!" and LOLd.

that beat the fuck out of "well you see, i forgot a task on a project which is time sensitive and now i need to fix it..." - fucking yawn.

no idea why that came out of me, or where the nugget came from. but her question really wasn't a request for real info. so i gave her none.

Note: i have no desire to bang this chick. My bro is a true bro. But my default reaction has been to share less with those who do not matter. Does the chick in your friend group matter to your well being and mission? if not. answer for fun.

Remember: just because someone asks you for something does not obligate you to answer them.
