fuck discipline, use systems. Most productive people don't fight their urges, they have systems in place that dont give you the urges. Phone is distracting? delete all apps with notifications. You catch yourself checking youtube? facebook? download site blocking software, and block it during your works hours or just leave 2 hrs in the evening. Be bored, thats the way, once you're bored and dont waste your time on social media and other distracting stuff, you do productive things and enjoy them. It's actually very hard to do nothing and be bored, use it.

Self-discipline.

I use self talk, “Adorable_FecalSpray, you need to complete some unpleasant tasks today. Tasks A, B and C. You need to complete them by 15:00. What’s my first step to completing task A?”

And then... a distraction.

“Adorable_FecalSpray, ignore that distraction... it’s only a Thot asking for attention. Do first step for task A. Just do it now, it will take around 90 minutes. Set a timer, beat 90 minutes. Go. Now.”

86 minutes pass...

“First step for Task A completed, reward yourself... 25 push-ups, 10 pull-ups!”

Another distraction...

“Is that distraction important? Yes, but it can wait a few hours. By then I will be done with Task A. Next step for Task A, do it now. Does this need a timer? No, 20 minutes, go.”

18 minutes pass...

“Task A complete, you badass morherfucker. Another reward!”

Is that autistic, don’t really fuckin’ care. It works for me.

I've had success with The X Effect method. You give yourself daily goals, and tick them off as you go (or cross them out if you fail). Great way to get into new habits and cultivate discipline.

As an example, my current daily goals are: Out of bed by 8am, cold shower, meditate, read for 30 mins, 100 burpees, no alcohol, no fast food, lights off by midnight.

Feels good to tick them off each day.

Set a timerand get that one thing done in that time. Leave the phone with the alarm on in a other room.

Practical tips

The secret to success lies in your daily routine.

First have you got goals?

Second what’s your plan to achieve those goals?

Third have you broken that plan down to daily actionable goals?

Finally; Execution.

It’s all and good to be disciplined but there’s no point running StrongLifts forever. You need a goal to achieve. Then once you reach that goal, reassess, refocus and progress forward toward a new goal.

Planning, Discipline and Habit are the tools. What you use them for? Entirely up to you.

Put on your shoes when you wake up and don't take them off till bed time. I don't know why it works, but you feel more productive.
