Pros & cons of bartending?

Cons shitty hours and dealing with drunk people. Obvious pros. Not a bad gig for a college student but after a few months, you’ll probably want to do something else.

Con - it's work.

If you don't need the money invest the tone into the field you want to work.

Con is you're not gonna walk on and bartend straight outta school. You're gonna have to barback for like a year at the least if the place is halfway decent. Unless you already have experience.

Also, look up where you live as you may not need to even go to school. Out here in CA they advertise the schools all the time but it's not required by law and a bar owner could give 2 shits less if you can make a Long Island in your bedroom.

Con- liability for underage drinking, especially if it’s a college bar that law enforcement/ALE likes to check. I had a friend who bartended in college get fucked over for this because of a underage kid with a fake ID.

Con- you usually don’t get these jobs without experience or working your way up at a place from barback.
