Hi. I don't post here or in the parent reddit much, but I had some questions about lifting and was hoping for some insight. Forewarning, I don't lift. Never have.
So TRP consistently and rather overwhelmingly supports lifting, I've personally never been into it. On the other hand, I'm getting older and my metabolism is slowing down and I rather start getting into better shape now than later. So what is the best way to go about building some physical strength, if you can't go to a gym. I had a gym membership last year and never really used it. Maybe 4 times over the course of a year, but it honestly wasn't because I didn't want to use it. I never had the time to go. My priorities have always been centered around school and work, I just never find time to work out between everything. I sadly though don't have room for a bench and weights. So if I got into lifting at home, I'd be using the single arm weights that people curl and whatnot, and I'm not entirely sure if those are very helpful for building physical strength. I figure posts like this might be common, I tried to find similar ones and nothing popped, if there are similar ones, please feel free to redirect me to them.
My current workout involves running at night to help me sleep. No idea if it helps or hurts, but I've recently started to carry milk jugs of water while I run. Curling those is about the closest I've come to really lifting weights. I feel stress in my arms from it, but I'm not sure if it's the same stress that you feel from a workout or if I'm somehow doing damage to my muscles. My medical knowledge tells me I shouldn't be hurting anything, but so far 3 weeks in and I haven't noticed any difference in my arms.
I know this is sort of a rambling post, but any and all insight is appreciated. I'm a bit out of my comfort zone and possibly my depth with this subject matter.
